So I did a pink black and gold commission and I said I usually wouldn't pair those colors together. I sorta forgot about this one. But in my defense on that one the gold and pink were in the back and the black was the belly so it does have a whole different vibe. Honestly I like that vibe a lot better. I made the tiger's eye twist earrings and I wanted to do it again. I don't have too many of this style of bead, the oblong ones. But I did have a string of these chrysoprase ones. And I had this gorgeous green luster beads that matched it perfectly. I love the look of the round pearls above the teardrops. Overall I think these came out well and I might need to get some more oblong beads so that I can make more of this style!

I saw a pair of gorgeous luna moth earrings online and I knew I had to make my own! I used a lot of their design. (I don't know much about these moths.) But I did make a few changes to make it my own. I can't say it is my design, but I can say they are my earrings. People are so creative! I wouldn't have ever thought to put gold spots on a pink dragon, nor would I have thought to have such heavy contrast with a black belly like this. But as always, the customer is always right in matters of taste. And they were right! I absolutely love how it came out! It is just so striking. I am ordering a different shade of gold and then I may just have to make another one!

A truly insane amount of math (trial and error) went into this piece. I knew the dimensions I needed to make the smaller peyote piece work, but I didn't know how big the larger one would have to be in order to make it work. I know just said yesterday that patterns can be a lot on these dragons but I take it all back! The pattern on this dragon is to die for! I love the pops of red, the way the gold snakes around and the neutral background of the black. This was my first stab at putting a pattern in the dragon's scales and I was really happy with how snakelike it came out. I thought it would end up a lot more symmetrical than it did, but the offset of the scale gave it a wiggly, more natural look. It wasn't my intent but I love it. I also intended for it to have an entirely black belly but I ran out of black beads pretty early on so I transitioned to a gold gradient and finished it out in gold.

This was a super interesting thing to work with. It is entirely acrylic so that was odd. Usually I work with genuine stones so this was interesting. It had the tiniest bit of give which was weird, but also I wasn't worried about dropping and breaking it. I was afraid that the beads would cover up too much of the design but that didn't really end up being a problem. I really enjoyed this project and if shoppers like it too I might end up working on similar ones in the future.
