A truly insane amount of math (trial and error) went into this piece. I knew the dimensions I needed to make the smaller peyote piece work, but I didn't know how big the larger one would have to be in order to make it work. I know just said yesterday that patterns can be a lot on these dragons but I take it all back! The pattern on this dragon is to die for! I love the pops of red, the way the gold snakes around and the neutral background of the black. It might be a challenge for someone to style this piece but I think that if someone can it will be so worth it. Imagine an entire outfit styled around these, it would be amazing. This was my first stab at putting a pattern in the dragon's scales and I was really happy with how snakelike it came out. I thought it would end up a lot more symmetrical than it did, but the offset of the scale gave it a wiggly, more natural look. It wasn't my intent but I love it. I also intended for it to have an entirely black belly but I ran out of black beads pretty early on so I transitioned to a gold gradient and finished it out in gold.

This was a super interesting thing to work with. It is entirely acrylic so that was odd. Usually I work with genuine stones so this was interesting. It had the tiniest bit of give which was weird, but also I wasn't worried about dropping and breaking it. I was afraid that the beads would cover up too much of the design but that didn't really end up being a problem. I really enjoyed this project and if shoppers like it too I might end up working on similar ones in the future.
