Lydia the Dragon

Every rose has its thorn, and Lydia is no exception. She hoards plants. She has seeds and cuttings from plants as ancient as she is, and she guards them jealously. If you want your own cutting of cretaceous plants, you must offer her something of equal value to add to her hoard. Her favorites are carnivorous plants. When she was just a baby, a long extinct (except in her collection) carnivorous plant snapped off one of her toes and started her obsession.

I really wanted to make a purple dragon technically Ingrid is a purple dragon, but that is a very different kind of purple. All of my vincent dragons so far are either green or grey and I wanted to add color to the collection! I think Lydia really does that!

I originally planned to add vines and roses as additional ornamentation down her back but I decided that she would be too busy if I did that. Well, I didn't decide that, two of my sisters and my mother all told me that. I got outvoted. Sort of. This isn't a democracy but that doesn't mean I don't occasionally crowd-source opinions.

Lydia is missing a toe. To be honest I don't even know how that is possible with the way the pattern works but it is what inspired me to write her background, so I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It gives her character, and it helps define her personality. I also kind of liked the way her eye frills make her feel judgmental. She thinks she is better than you, and honestly isn't a dragon going to be better than you? So is she even wrong? It is one of my favorite things about these dragons, each one kind of develops their own personality and I am not so sure that I give it to them. I definitely don't do it on purpose.
