So the first thing you might notice is that Kevin is a wyvern and not a traditional western dragon. The second thing you might notice is that his legs are at the front of his body instead of the back as you might expect in a wyvern. Kevin is a dragon, and dragons are mythical creatures which means he cannot be wrong.
What is the difference between a wyvern and a western dragon? A western dragon typically has four legs and two wings. A wyvern on the other hand has only two legs and two wings. George R R Martin prefers wyverns, his logic is that there are no animals (reptiles/mammals/birds) that have six limbs as a western dragon does.
I personally believe that when we are making up creatures we get to make up whatever we want, and if I can suspend disbelief about a creature breathing fire then the number of limbs is not my primary concern. Why then is Kevin a wyvern? For the very simple reason that I ran out of yarn. This is also the explaination for why Kevin's legs are in the front of his body. Usually a wyvern has hind legs and uses its wings as forelegs when they are on the ground. Kevin would kind of need to drag himself around like a seal if he was on land. This is why Kevin only lands to nap.
