Have you ever wondered why ripe blackberries are so sweet? Thank Ingrid. She flits around every morning stealing all the tartness from unripe blackberries. She then uses all that sourness to make her tiny flames. A pleasant side effect is the lovely purple it turns her scales. Other little dragons will change their fruit sources to match with current color trends, but Ingrid loves her purple hue and never leaves her blackberry patch!
This was a brand new pattern for me, I very rarely buy patterns but I wanted to make a new dragon! She came out quite a bit smaller than the Vincent, Lionel, or Shen style dragons and I haven't yet figured out if I will be able to size her up to mix and match pieces like I do with those guys. I am excited to find out!
Next time I make one of these I will definitely make the horns in a different color, with the whole dragon being monotone I think it loses a little bit of definition. The most remarkable thing about this pattern though, and what may make it challenging to modify, is that it is almost entirely no sew! I can't even imagine how challenging it was to try to write an entire dragon pattern without sewing the pieces together. I am so impressed with this designer.
I haven't made a purple dragon before. I don't tend to pick purples. I like them just fine, but when presented with options I always tend to pick something else. But recently I've been hanging out with someone who says purple is their favorite color and it made me want to use it. I've decided that more dragons should be purple!
This pattern isn't free, but it is available on Ravelry here.
