Green Peyote Twisted Leaf Necklace

The very first kinds of things I learned how to bead were these twisted leaf peyote stitch shapes. I have tried quite a few sizes and varieties of these, but this is probably the biggest. I just figured that since it was going to be a pendant instead of earrings, it could be a little bit bigger. Plus, I decided I wanted to hang that green drop bead in the middle, so it needed to be bigger to support that.

Since the bead that I wanted to use was green, I tried my best to match my miyukis to that bead, and I think, luster aside, I was able to do a pretty good job. For my secondary color, nothing goes better with green than gold. There are some wildly creative patterns I can make with the colors for this style of earring, but I wanted to make this simple and elegant. It wasn't about the art of the piece; it was about creating a piece that I felt could be easily worn by someone.

Luckily, I think I did well as an older man bought this necklace (and a pair of matching earrings that I completely forgot to photograph) for his wife who was so excited to receive them that she actually came back into the store to tell me how wonderful she thought they were.
