Small Peyote Earrings

This pair is available on my Etsy here!
Normally, when I do the twisted leaf peyote stitch design I make it 4 beads wide, which results in a large shape. This time I wanted to see if I could make it smaller. step one was to make it only three beads wide. Step two was to figure out how many rows it took to then still maintain the shapes integrity. That took a bit more trial and error than I expected. I couldn't just reduce the number of rows by 1/4 in proportion to the width of the rows.
I think I eventually figured it out. They are a bit stiffer than the bigger ones, but I still think they look right. They have the right shape and the dramatic curving. I definitely plan to make more of this style in addition to the larger ones. This kind of addresses one of the things I don't love about beaded earrings: they are all so large. Even though the beads are tiny by the time I have strung enough together to make an interesting shape the overall piece is very large. They aren't heavy, but they are visually dominating.
This pair is still bigger than I normally wear, but they are a lot smaller than the ones that I normally make. Usually I don't mind that since I don't make them to wear myself. I don't even make them to sell. I just make them because I love the process of making them, and the more complicated the pattern the more fun I have, unfortunately also the bigger the earring ends up!
