My Little Fish

I often complain that I don't have very many good fish patterns. I always want a better one. So I wrote one. It still isn't quite where I want it to be but it is better than some of the other fish patterns that I have seen. It does take two little skeins of dmc for the main color and part of one for the contrast color, but I think it is worth it. I didn't have a specific fish in mind when I made this and maybe that is why it still feels slightly off. Next time I try to design a fish I might go for something more recognizable. If you have any suggestions I am all ears!

I try to use the variegated yarns on fish and I always have mixed feelings. I love it on the body for sure, but the tail feels blocky. If a fish were to have multiple colors on the tail I wouldn't imagine them to be in arches and chunks like that. I don't know much about fish but I would expect it to either be fully striped or a nice gradient. I still love the overall look though!
