Snail Keychains!

Ok. So snails aren't usually cute. I love when I see one in the wild but besides being small there isn't really anything about them that I would describe as cute. BUT the snails in this pattern are adorable. I knew as soon as I saw the pattern that I had to make one. And then I made a second one. And I will definitely be making more of them. More keychains and also bigger ones.

Despite them being interesting and fun to make I don't think that they will sell well. Hopefully I am proven wrong since I fully intend to make a bunch of them. But snails aren't quite as universally appealing as some of the other creatures that I make. Who knows maybe they will become my best seller and I will have to make more of them!

The only drawback of the pattern is the shell. There is so much detail and creativity in the snail body, they have frills, eyestalks, and even little cheek bits (I don't know the name). But the shell is just a little ball. I think I can make my own shell pattern and improve the design in the future but these two little dudes are just adorable and I love them.

The first one I made had the blue shell, but I wanted to try a variegated thread to see if it made the shell more dynamic. I do like the look of the stripes, but unfortunately snail shells don't spiral from the top like that so it didn't quite give the impression that I was hoping it would. Still, it was definitely worth a try!
