Blue Onyx Earrings

Blue Onyx is a variety of onyx that does occur naturally, but most of the samples available have had their naturally subtle blue color dyed or enhanced to make it more vibrant. Given that these two pieces in particular are still quite dark and nearly black in appearance, I believe that there is a chance that they have been left undyed, but since there is no way for me know I will not market them one way or another.

Blue onyx is known for its strength giving properties, but within the framework of internal resolve. It is recommended for people who wish to change a bad habit or begin a new good habit. A secondary, but related property is its stabilizing effects. To the end of habits it helps remove distractions and increase motivation.

You may notice that these stones are relatively unadorned compared to how I usually treat the stones in my collection. My mother likes (Diamonds) simple unadorned stones that don't try to take over an outfit. She therefore isn't a huge fan of the stuff I normally make. She absolutely supports me and admires the pieces but she would never wear them herself. I really wanted to make something that she might wear. Not because I think she would buy them but because, firstly, I appreciate a challenge, and secondly, she represents some portion of the market that I wouldn't want to exclude.

She still thinks the stones are too big for her face, but she does love the simplicity of these pieces. So its a step in the right direction but honestly I don't know if I want to work with smaller stones anyway so it might the win I was looking for. I haven't decided yet.

I used black and white beads for the ear studs, in person the stones are a lot darker and the black is a nearly perfect match, in bright light the blue tones of the stone come out a bit stronger but I still think that the black works with it.
