I am not a huge gem person, in that I do not know what all of them do. But that being said I did some research on the properties of the stones that I use!
White Horse Magnesite is also known as Wild Horse Magnesite. It is known for its relaxing and creative properties often being used to facilitate creative processes. There are of course many more benefits attributed to this stone and much deeper meanings for those who wish to explore them but in general each of the benefits tracing back to tis root calming influence. Wild Horse Magnesite is most often found in Southern Arizona, China, Turkey, North Korea, Russia, and a few other small mines worldwide. Its hardness is 3.5-4.5 mohs which is relative soft making it delicate but still viable for jewelry.
I got both of these Cabochons at a local gem show. (I purchased way too many pieces, but I love them all and have already used about half of them.) I knew I for sure wanted the oval, because its just amazing, but I also wanted to try the square just to make something more unique and see if I liked that shape.
I do think that the square came out really nice, but I do think the oval can't be beat. Its simple classy and elegant. I decided to go with very simple bezel settings for each of these stones just because the magnesite already has a lot going on with the pattern that I didn't want to make the piece too busy.
