Red Gembone Set

The Earrings are available on my Etsy here!

The Necklace is also available on Etsy here!

Gembone can also be called Agatized fossils. This name gives a much more clear depiction of what it is exactly. This gem bone is a product of fossilized bone of dinosaurs in which the cellular construction has been reinstated with quartz, upholding the bone structure intact. Given its link to fossils, it is a stone that is known to help wearers connect with their past, whether they're looking towards childhood or past lives this stone can help.

So these stones are the first in a series. I won't work on the series in sequence, but they will all be linked by their origins. A friend of mine, in his 40s or 50s, introduced me to his grandmother, in her 80s or 90s, and she showed me a collection of stones that her father had cut. He was a lapidary and silversmith and she still had so many of his pieces. She was willing to let me go through them and pick out a few to buy. I saw this set of three gembones of course, I had to jump on them. I knew it would make the most amazing set. I didn't know if I wanted to do earrings and a necklace, a statement bracelet with all three, or a compound pendant.

Obviously, I ended up settling on earrings and pendant. Before I put the red and grey ornamentation on I was really leaning towards a compound pendant. But I wanted to try to embellish the bezels first and see what I thought of that. Once I had I knew they were perfect. I couldn't take it back apart to make the compound necklace. I decided instead of making the earrings dangles to attach studs directly on back and use strung beads to secure them firmly into place.

I got a bunch more stones and you will see a lot more about them in the future!
