Purple Rivoli Earrings

I don't usually use Rivolis in my pieces. I tend to stick to beads and stones, but I really wanted to try to get into faceted gems. Glass facsimiles seemed to be the easiest way to test it out. I decided to try out these rivolis, which refers to the way they are cut, with those points on both sides. They don't have a flat face the way many gems do, but they also are super thin. Turns out I have no concept of how big a milimeter is and these were way bigger than I thought they'd be. This lead me to a bit of experimentation. I think for a central piece like this I wish that I had gotten colored rivolis, but the black did allow me to play around with bright colors for the beads so that was super fun!

I really like how these came out, but they are likely to be the only pair I ever make quite like this. I got four of these rivolis and I used one to make a bracelet and I will likely get another size next time. What do you think of these little beauties?
