I will try to describe some of the metaphysical properties of jasper but keep in mind this is heavily dyed jasper so it is difficult if not impossible to tell what kind of jasper it is. But in general jasper is considered a nurturing stone, known for its ability to ground and stabilize its bearer by providing comfort and security. It is thought that this nurturing/comforting property is the reason that Ancient Egyptians included it so frequently in burial procedures, often alongside inscriptions of the book of the dead. Perhaps believing it would help provide security on the journey through the afterlife.
I really loved this piece. I usually wouldn't make black the foreground color because it just feels like it belongs in the background to me. But I went wild and used gold as the neutral and black as the front. It came out amazing! The black right next to the red makes the red pop so much. And of course the gold looks good. Gold always looks good. This was actually the only one that I tried something like this on and I am so happy that I did! I will have to be more bold in my color choices in the future. Sometimes it works out!
