This is the third and as of now final installation in the teddy bear series. Three is a fair number of the same pattern at once to make for me so I am a bit proud of myself. I am also proud of my pun with their names and you cannot make me regret it. I used the exact same yarns in this guy as I did in the first teddy bear. But I reversed them. And while I plan to keep that first one but not this one I do like this one a lot better. I love how the solid blue looks and I think the bumpy texture of the lighter colored yarn works a lot better as the accent rather than the focal point. I also think this guy has the best eyes out of the bunch!
I sewed the eyes on these teddy bears because my intention for them is to have small children keep them. Safety eyes have that name because they are safer than button eyes, but that doesn't actually mean that they are safe for small children. They actually pose a huge choking risk. So, when I make something with smaller kids in mind I always embroider the eyes on. It just gives me peace of mind. I have a few different techniques to do this, but it was really exciting on these bears because they are actually big enough that I could put some extra details in there. Giving the little glint of white on the pupil was really fun!
Which of the three bears is your favorite?
