This style is really unique for me. I don't use very many bead frames. I actually struggle with this style just a little bit. The first time I made them I worried (and still do a little bit) that I hadn't actually done enough to say that I made these earrings. With as few beads as they had I struggled with the idea that I was just assembling things rather than creating something. I talked with a few of my friends and they reassured me that firstly I am still creating something I still string each of the beads individually. Secondly, they told me that the creative process, acquiring the materials, and deciding how to put them together made it more than just an assembly process. I still struggle a tiny bit with the idea but it was enough for me to make a few more of them.
Red Creek Jasper is found in China, and must be stabilized before it can be cut just like turquoise. Jasper is a form of chalcedony and is used to bring balance and relaxation. It can also be used to promote compassion, protection, and self-discipline.
I have made four of this style, this was the second one I made because in typical me fashion I forgot to take pictures of the first pair. But that first one sold so fast. They are so much lighter than they look like, and the stone swings freely in the frames so they have a really cool movement to them when worn. Unfortunately all the beads that I used in this were given to me so I don't have links as I am not sure exactly what color they are but I love them. A subtle gold and black lets the reds of the Jasper shine so wonderfully. What do you think?
