Lepidolite Tie Pendant Earrings

Lepidolite is a form of mica that is often found within larger deposits of quartz. When it was originally discovered in 1861 it was called lilalite after its beautiful and unique lilac color, but it was changed to lepidolite years later to better reflect its texture. Lepidolite within the spiritual community can be called the "peace stone" or the ""grandmother stone." These names refer to its ability to provide inner peace and balance. Reminiscent of a mother swaddling baby. For this reason it is considered to be a highly feminine stone, but that doesn't mean that a man wouldn't want his own soul nurtured by it!

You already know that this is my personal addition to the beading world. I love this style, it is my style that I came up with! But this was kind of subtle twist on it. These lepidolite pendants were much narrower and pointier than the ones I normally use so I decided to make the outer beaded shape match that too! If you compare to the Afgahnite pendants you will notice that the bottom point is significantly more pointy in this piece. Usually its a rho0mbus but the edges are quite rounded and soft. It just felt really good to understand my creation so well that I could modify it to reflect the unique qualities of the individual stones.

I also decided to make the beaded portion out of clear beads, which didn't exactly give the impression that I wanted, but it did create this beautiful silvery effect which I was quite pleased by. In retrospect I realized that they are silver-lined clear beads and I should have seen this coming. I thought my lavender beads were an awesome way to pull that gorgeous color from the stone into the beading without overwhelming the piece. I also decided to only use two colors in this earrings when I normally do three but I love the way they came out and I wouldn't change anything!
