I had no idea that this was a thing, but people who are far more talented than I make their own patterns and sell them. Prior to selling them they apparently ask other knitters/crocheters to try out the patterns to check them for typos or errors. I got the opportunity to be one of these test knitters for a gorgeous blanket, designed by MadeByGootie you can follow my progress and see how it goes in my WIP forum, I hope to get started on that tomorrow!
