I hope everyone has a great Memorial day! Another kind of book we often make in the Guild is Japanese hole punch books. These are case-bound books where each cover consists of 2 pieces of bookboard that give it a hinge where the book opens. Holes are drilled through both covers and the pages simultaneously and then everything is tightly bound together in complex patterns. I personally prefer ones with book cloth on the hinge and more decorative paper for the majority of the cover, as with the purple and white. But book cloth can be used for the entirety of the cover as with the others. Here are 4 examples of different binding patterns that can be used for this type of book.
